About Us

Our Mission

To empower every investor with tools to design, execute and share their own active investment strategies, regardless of their portfolio size.

To reshape investment strategy landscape with universal access, radical transparency, and accountability.

Uliaa is revolutionizing retail investment by providing anyone with an ability to design, implement, operate and share their very own, independent and highly sophisticated hedge funds, even if you only have a few hundred spare dollars to invest. It empowers retail investors with access to the same quality financial analysis, products and risk management strategies as has been traditionally available only to high net-worth individuals with millions of dollars in assets.

Uliaa is a mobile app and web platform on which millions of nano-sized hedge funds are operated by millions of individual retail investors. Each nano-fund follows its own unique investment strategy designed and managed directly by its owner. The funds are automatically traded on the World’s markets and respond to the changes in market conditions in as little as 29 seconds.

Further, Uliaa allows retail investors and industry professionals to develop, test, use and share, for fun or profit, their own financial analysis, investment strategies and advise, all in a standardized digital form that is automatically executable on the public Uliaa platform.

The Uliaa Difference

Uliaa is not a retail trading platform like Robinhood.

While our web site could, in theory, be used to day-trade options, this is not its main purpose, or a significant part of our business model.

Uliaa is not a pick-a-fund or pick-an-auto-trader site.

Our investment strategies are designed directly by our users (both professional and amateur), and each user is both empowered, and wholly responsible, for the performance of their chosen investment. While users can elect to share strategies or aspects of strategies with each other, and include mutual funds in their investment strategy, they are equally free to develop their very own strategy from scratch, or purchase an existing strategy published on the platform by a professional and gradually modify it to suit their individual needs.

Finally, Uliaa is not a build-your-own-auto-trader tool.

Such tools are invariably structured as choreographed responses to specific market movements, often assembled out of coarse-grained special-purpose building blocks, which are notoriously difficult for retail investors to use effectively and, even when effective, typically have a very short shelf life before the underlying market opportunity has been exhausted. Uliaa strategies are written in a high-level language by specifying actual investment objectives rather than considering individual trades and market movements, which, in our experiments, even a relative beginner can use to describe their basic investment needs.

On the Uliaa platform, investment strategies and financial analysis are described in a propriety, easy-to-understand, Strategy Specification Language (SISSL), which the platform continuously and automatically evaluates, and optionally trades against a retail customer’s asset holdings, allowing for a response time to changes in market conditions of as little as 29 seconds.

SISSL supports almost unlimited general investment strategies and financial analysis to be described in terms of high-level goals and investment objectives, instead of low-level responses to specific market movements, as done by most (all?) existing auto-trading algorithms. For example, an investor can instruct Uliaa to pick those eco-conscious stocks which provide best available returns according to Bloomberg 12-month forecast, while targeting aggregate volatility of 10 for their entire portfolio, limiting exposure to foreign exchange fluctuations with an FX envelope, taking into account their existing asset holdings, and benefiting from any government capital gains tax concessions available to that customer. Uliaa will then evaluate these requirements and propose to the user an optimal set of trades that will transform their existing asset portfolio into one that adheres to their chosen strategy, accounting for fees and overlaying any additional regulation-imposed compliance rules. It will then continue to watch the market, re-examining the portfolio every minute in response to market movement and rebalancing the user’s assets whenever required, either automatically or with manual approval of each proposed trade. We found that, given such high-level tools, even fairly inexperienced investor is able to formulate their saving goals into a meaningful investment strategy, and, over time, gradually increase the strategy’s sophistication as their understanding of the financial markets grows.
